1. Why would I like a log home?  It personifies a simpler, quieter atmosphere in contrast to the complicated and hectic work place, and has special warmth and appeal.

2.  How easy is it to construct?  The logs can be stacked and ready for the roof in as little as 3-4 days.  Heartbilt provides expert supervision for the log construction.

3.  What primary wood species does Heartbilt offer?  High-Grade Eastern White Pine and Englman Spruce comprise 90% of our orders.  Red and White cedar and others are available also.

4.  How does a log built home compare with a stick built home in cost?  The cost of a log home is very near the same as a quality stick built (conventional) home.

5.  What diameters and profiles of logs does Heartbilt Homes Inc. offer?  6 inch, 8 inch, 10 inch and 12 inch diameters; Full Round, Artic, Square, D-style, and Dove Tail profiles - the number of different options is nearly endless.

6.  How easy is it to heat and AC a log home?  The most accurate measurement of thermal efficiency of log walls is Thermal Mass-the capacity to absorb, store and slowly release heat over time.  Logs do this extremely well.  Log walls provide significant energy saving benefits -20% easier to heat and 40% easier to cool than 6" fiberglass insulated walls!  Heartbilt roofs are designed to be R-38 and gable ends to be R-19 or greater.

7.  What kind of finish does Heartbilt recommend on the exterior logs?  This is an area you want the highest possible quality product.  Included in Heartbilt's package is an oil based, penetrating stain and sealer manufactured by SIKKENS.  When the stain is applied properly, maintenance is very minimal.

8.  Do I need to chink between the logs?  Heartbilt produces kiln dried logs for stability and less settling.  Using state of the art machinery from Germany, the logs once assembled, are self-sealing and actually get tighter with age.  Heartbilt milling is so precise that the home requires no chinking between the logs.
