Learn what makes Heartbilt's quality.

Welcome to Heartbilt Homes Manufacturing Plant.

Thank you for taking a moment to visit Heartbilt's manufacturing plant.  Let us give you a quick tour of our plant to show you why, "We are a bear on quality."

Our Profile Grinder

This is where quality starts.  Profile knives are made to tolerances of less than .0005 of an inch and measured by computer and sent to the moulder.  Sharpening of these special tools is done here without changing the size by using the "Axial Constant Method".
Next we take a look the Kerf Saw.  It is an automatic saw that jumps up about 8" from the end, cutting a relief kerf the length of the log then jumping down before going through the end of the log.  This gives us two solid ends to cut for the interlocking corners.  We kerf the log to relieve stress in the log and minimize checking.    Kerf Saw

Planer-Moulder

This is a five head machine that takes square cant's and moulds it into almost any profile imaginable.  We can do profiles from 10" in height to 14" wide. Click here to learn more about log profiles.

Then the log is off to the cut-off saw.  Following a master cut sheet, the operator precuts the home to the length with a tolerance of 1/32" of an inch.  Defects are removed by the operator.

Cut-Off Saw
Dado Saw / Notcher      Now we send the log to the Dado saw.  The Dado saw cuts a vertical spline in the end of the log for butt joints and at all window and door openings.  The round notcher cuts a round notch through the log for the interlocking corners.

We are not quite finished yet.  Our log has to stop at the Versa Notcher.  This notcher cuts various styles of notches for interlocking corners.  It has the capabilities to put a T & G inside the notch itself.

Sanding Table

Last stop for our log is the sanding table.  This is where the logs are inspected for any defects and marks from the milling process.  Any defects will be sanded out or the log will be re-cut.  The logs are then bundled for shipping.

We make sure only the very best quality logs are shipped to our customers!

Our logs are ready for Shipping!

This load is being prepared to be shipped to the jobsite.  The load will be tarped to protect it from the elements so that it arrives at the jobsite as clean as when it was milled.
